Hello GRC!
During this past fall, many of you joined us for an ACE (Adult Christian Education) class featuring Biblical Counseling and GRC‘s vision for our growing Counseling Ministry. It was great to see how many of you were in attendance!
My hope is that you came away from those ACE hour’s with a clearer understanding that Biblical Counseling is a part of Christian discipleship. It involves the application of the healing, renewing, reconciling, transforming power of the Word of God, at the center of which is the person and work of Jesus Christ, to a persons’ brokenness, struggle, doubt, conflict. A Biblical Counselor must be a believer in Jesus Christ who knows the Word of God, and in particular, the truth, power, and implications of the Gospel. He or she trusts that God’s Word, under the ministry of the Holy Spirit, is sufficient for life (2 Peter 1:3).
I already know from your emails and our ACE Hour Q&A time together that Biblical Counseling has piqued your curiosity and I am delighted to share with you that there are a few upcoming offerings for those of you who would like to learn or become more involved in some way:
- Join our Counseling Ministry-specific email list to receive exposure to Biblical Counseling content including curated Christian Counseling Education Foundation (CCEF) and Journal of Biblical Counseling articles, videos, resources, and more. Sign up here.
- Join the GRC Counseling Book Club as we begin a 6-week readthrough and discussion of Jay E. Adam’s illuminating book “From Forgiven to Forgiving: Learning to Forgive One Another God’s Way.” We are kicking things off Wednesday, February 5th @ 7PM. Please email kyle@graceredeemer.com if you are interested in joining in on this weekly offering!
- For those looking for even more, you are welcome to join a learning cohort of members and staff counselors who are pursuing either an audit or a full certificate of completion of Christian Counseling Education Foundation’s Biblical Counseling classes. This is a weekly gathering that will begin to meet on Wednesday, March 12th @ 8PM, just prior to the start of the semester’s course offering that runs from March 24th to May 31st. For more information about this offering please email kyle@graceredeemer.com. Registration is open!
I look forward to spending time getting to know many of you as we delve deeper into an area of discipleship that is so needed in our world, church communities, and families.
If you are interested in receiving counseling through GRC’s Counseling Ministry please email counseling@graceredeemer.com directly.
Peace In Christ!
