Did you know that GRC has a young adult ministry called, CrossRoads? Not only do we have one, but the group is thriving spiritually and by God’s grace its members are finding their way into the larger church body through growth groups, Bible studies, church membership, Youth Ministry and the like. As one who leads the group, I can testify that you will not find a more interesting set of individuals. Between weekly Sunday Bible studies and lunches, an active text group, and various sub-groups, this group keeps busy in Christ, and it has been a joy to lead them.
Now, with all that said, I am not writing about CrossRoads to brag or share general info, but to issue an invitation and challenge: To all of GRC’s older saints, please consider forming friendships with our young adults. As much as we young adults make efforts to love one another, we don’t know what we don’t know and pooled ignorance, at the end of the day, is still ignorance.
As a principle for motivation, look to Apostle Paul. Who, while once a young man persecuting the church, spent most of his life for Christ sake (Acts 7:58; 9:1-31). And how did he spend those years of devotion to Christ? Not just writing to the saints in general but specifically to young men, those coming up after him. Of his 13 letters, four of them were to men younger than himself (1 and 2 Timothy, Titus and Philemon)! Paul knew that it was the business of the spiritually rich to bless the poor and instructed godly older women to do the very same (Titus 2:3-5). Not to mention, Paul greatly benefitted from the energy and care of those young men behind him (Phil. 2:19-23).
Church, we need one another, young and old, if we are going to continue to be a blessed witness to northern New Jersey. If interested in enriching the lives of our young adult saints and blessing your own, a great place to start is at GRC’s annual church retreat, us young adults plan to be there in full effect. Besides that, feel free to shoot me an email with questions and comments, happy to facilitate introductions and opportunities.
